Flight in late morning from Manchester to Bilbao and return late afternoon to Manchester
We will stay 5 nights in Logrono in the centre of the Rioja wine region (a wine festival takes place while we are there) and 2 nights in San Sebastian.We will be on a DBB for 4 nights and LBB for the other 3 nights(allowing us to to take in the delights of the numerous “tapas bars” in Logrono for our evening meal)

A Christmas meal is to be held in The Academy Restaurant , top of Duke Street , Liverpool on 20th December 2018 , arrive at 11.45am for 12 noon (make your own way there).
Cost is £26.00 per person.
Consideration will be given to those members who have attended the most visits during 2018.

Members of the Wine tasting group visited Wine Time at Scatchards last evening for the latest foray into experiencing wines from different wine producing areas of the world. It was lovely to see several new U3A members who joined us for the outing. This time we sampled 6 wines from South Africa, including a red which apparently is never sold in SA as the British market takes 95% of its stock! Having quaffed samples of 2 whites, a rose and 3 reds accompanied by cheese, meats and olives, the conversation flowed as easily as the wine. Thanks once again to George and Mo for organising the tasting and providing the nibbles. I wonder where our next sampling will take us?

40 U3A members took advantage of the longer hours of daylight this evening and attended a wine tasting evening hosted at Scatchards, where we sampled Chilean wines. Two whites, a rose and three reds were tasted, accompanied by chorizo, goats cheese, crackers and olives. The evening was a great success with lively conversation, not all about the wine, and it was great to see several new U3A members attending the evening. Thanks to George Birchall for arranging the evening and transportation to and from the event.
A visit to Winetime at Scatchards has been arranged , Wine tasting will be Chilean wine. Cost £7 per member for tasting and , if required a return taxi transfer from Maghull Square at £7 per member if sufficient numbers book this service.
6 wines will be tasted , chorizo , cheese , olives and biscuits will be provided.
