Seventeen strollers took the train into Liverpool and walked down Water Street to the Pier Head. As we passed Tower Building, Brian pointed out the plaque commemorating the rescue of Shackleton’s stranded crew from Elephant Island in 1916 and outlined the story. We then made our way to the Beatles Statue Continue reading

Christmas/Jubilee Meal 22/05/2022
Christmas/Jubilee Meal 22/05/2022
Well if 42 is the Meaning Of Life, then the forty two who attended the meal at Kensington House had plenty of life in us. This was a combination of the much delayed Christmas 2019 Meal and an early Queen’s Jubilee Meal. A marvellous spread was provided by Scrummies and we enjoyed a Quiz, Irish Bingo, a Raffle and even an Irish Bingo Raffle. A great afternoon with good food, good company and a lot of laughs. Thanks to the Kensington House staff, Nicky from Scrummies for the food and service, Phil for the Bingo, the helpers dressing the tables, and most of all Brenda for all her hard work organising the event.
Haskayne Circular 15 May
On a fine, sunny morning, a large group of twenty seven walkers met at the Ship Inn in Haskayne. There was a choice of walks on offer. A short one along the canal and back to the pub, and a longer one with the option of an added loop. While the “short” walkers set off along the canal towpath, the rest of us made our way along Rosemary Lane and across the main Southport road into School Lane.
