A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

On Monday evening, our circular walk from Lydiate Parish Hall to the Cheshire Lines footpath, took us over a field where the footpath had virtually disappeared from view, as a result of the rapid growth of crops, weeds and foliage, due to the summer sun and rain. Whilst we walkers just took it in our ‘stride’, it has become somewhat of a problem, with leaders equipping themselves with secateurs in order to cut the nettles and thorny shoots that creep across the footpaths. Having said all that, it is good to enjoy the country air and scenery on a fine sunny summers evening.

Happy Nordic Walking,

Ian

I have recently received the following e-mail from John Challis, at the U3A Nordic Walking Group friends, Purbeck, Dorset;

“Thanks very much for your reply. I’m sorry it has not been acknowledged earlier. Sounds a to be a really thriving group, and again your input in the early stages was most helpful in setting up the Purbeck (Nordic Walking) U3A group.
Are any of you coming to the Purbeck Nordic Walking Festival here in Swanage Fri 15-Sun 17 September? It was a very successful one last year, and is likely to attract even more walkers this year.
There are great coastal and inland heath and moorland routes. If there were people coming it would be good to do a U3A group walk either on the Thur before or the Mon after the festival, or both! Would really enjoy taking you and others on a couple or routes here! ”

Kind regards

Only two more Monday evening walks at Maghull before we move back to Lydiate on 3rd April, 2017 for our longer walks of 1hr 30mins. The photograph shows some of the group on a recent walk around Maghull. Whilst the weather on some of our walks has been cold, windy and wet, our loyal hardy walkers have braved the winter months and we are now enjoying the lighter nights and the start of spring. We are all looking forward to those balmy summer night walks in the countryside around Lydiate. Why not come and join us?

Happy Nordic Walking Ian, Brenda & John
