One ticket has become available for ‘Mother Goose’ at the Empire on Wednesday March 1st for the 14:30 matinee. Please contact the Theatre Group by email (see the Group listing) or at the desk next Tuesday.
Tickets are also still available for the Matthew Bourne production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Empire on the 11t of March starting at 14:30.
On the 24th of January Age Concern is putting on a free showing of “Mrs Harris Goes to Paris”, at the Plaza Cinema Crosby. This feel good movie might be just what you need to brighten a January day.

We all know life is full of ups and downs and this week gave us a perfect example of that.
The up was that we held our Christmas celebrations morning at the U3A. It began with a choir of some 42 children from Saint Andrews Primary school singing a medley of Christmas songs for us.
These were possibly the best-behaved children I’ve come across in a long time and their enthusiasm and their joy in singing for us as an audience was absolutely obvious.
We enjoyed their rendition of our favourite Christmas Carols and were thrilled to join in at the end with a very rousing rendition of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Our applause matched their enthusiasm and I’m sure you all agree that the school can be very proud of these children.
We had the pleasure of hearing the Maghull Handbell Ringers who provided us with a medley of Christmas songs including Ding Dong Merrily on High and Jingle Bells which we joined in.
Christmas Sale
A big thank you to Barbara and Irene who once again made our Coffee Room a place of Christmas delight. Last week Irene showed us her skill in making Christmas table decorations and wreaths and this week it was Barbara’s term to show off her mini knitted wreaths. the money raised from these two sales amounted to £115.00, which the ladies donated to our Woodlands Appeal

Many many thanks to you both for brightening up our morning and providing such an incredible donation.
Square Dancing Group
Jane Murphy, the group leader of our Square Dancing Group wishes to thank all who came and danced along side her and all the u3a who helped to get this group up and running. Sadly this group will not be re-starting after our Christmas break and I’m sure we would all like to thank Jane for the enthusiasm and energy that she brought to the group.
