If you are booked on the Christmas Lunch on the 8th December can you please return your choice of meal slips. If you haven’t got one they are available from our Tuesday morning table. Join us for our Christmas Lunch. We will start with a visit to the family owned Golden Days Garden Centre at Wrightington. This is well stocked with a wide variety of choice and will be decked out for all your Christmas requirements.Then we are off to the comfortable Astley Bank Hotel in Darwen for a delicious meal. This lovely Hotel is set in its’ own grounds and has an enviable reputation for good food. There is a good choice of menu. We can relax and enjoy a delicious meal in good company. This is our first Christmas get together for 2 years!

Hello Everyone.Hope you are keeping well, been double vaccinated and rearing to go. Well do you think we might be, could be, is it possible to be getting back to some  normality after all this time? There is no mention of Coffee Mornings recommencing just yet, although I think u3a holds them at Costa instead.  You meet so many of us in there! Until the coffee mornings return it is difficult to forecast when  day trips will recommence as they are our main point of sale. However, I have been in touch with our coach company Holmeswood and they are returning hopefully to normal working after the 19th July. We will just have to be patient a little longer to see what the news is from the Committee. In the meantime, stay safe, keep well and we should be able to meet soon.

What a long time it seems since we met for our happy, chatty Coffee Mornings, wonderful day trips, holidays and all our special interest group meetings. 

I sincerely hope you are all well but if you know someone who is not, for whatever reason,  please give me a call. I am sure they would be happy to receive a card on behalf of our U3A Committee and Members

Just before the lockdown commenced in March, three Day Trips had been booked for March, April and May.  Deposits, and in some cases the full amount, had been paid in. amounting to just under £3,000.  As there is no sign of us being able to return anytime soon I have arranged for these amounts to be returned to you.   By now you should all have received your refund but if you haven’t don’t worry it’s on its way. There were 92 cheques to be returned.  This brings me to saying a very big thank you to Stuart, our Treasurer, who had the unenviable task of writing them all out..By making the refund we will have a clean slate when we return.  Thank you to all who continue to show an interest in our trips and hopefully, you will continue to do so in the future.
