ARCHITECTURE FOR FUN
On Wednesday 18th May we are arranging a visit to Elan Valley Ranger Station at Rhayader, Powys, where a ranger will join us on the coach for a 2 hour tour of the hidden secrets of the area including a tour inside the Pen y Garreg Dam (Refreshments will be available at the Station at members own cost)We will then continue to Gigrin Farm , the “Red Kite Feeding Centre” where we will set up in a “hide” and watch the feeding of Red Kites (I believe 100’s of them).Due to the distance we will need an early departure from Maghull Square at 7.45am
The cost £35, this will decrease if 40 members book the tour ONLY 7 PLACES LEFT

I had an email from the Commandant at Altcar advising that he thought it advisable due to the likelihood of extreme bad weather that the visit be cancelled.

I have just had advice from the Catering Manager (1.15pm) that the kitchen where they were to prepare the food as chosen by all members (it probably took me several hours to organise choices , collate them , send them to Altcar and discuss the issue) is not available
They have offered a “cold buffet” with various choices which I have accepted.
This may be a better option as I was concerned that each choice made by members would have had to be prepared individually and with 34 attending it would have resulted in many members waiting a long time for there food.
I have been advised that I will be receiving a “drinks menu” and if received I will make a number of photocopies to hand to members.
The weather does not look good for Friday and I would advise members to prepare for poor weather by donning “waterproof clothing” and “sturdy footwear”

We are proposing a visit to Nantwich on 24th March leaving Maghull 8.15 to visit the Market (10.00-11.30) , members can have a snack/lunch locally (11.30-12.30) ,
Then to Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker (12.45-14.00) inclusive of a Curators Tour lasting 1 hour
Then to St Marys Church (14.30-15.30) Return to .Maghull 17.00-17 All times are approximate

We had confirmation of our visit a visit to Altcar Training Camp -North Western Reserve Forces & Cadets from the Commandant on 31/01/22
This will be on Friday 18th February , Coach leaving time 9.20am at Maghull Square , expected back approx. 3.30/4.00pm
The cost includes coach from Maghull Square and return , lunch at the Red Rose Club on site (see menu , members to choose requirements by NUMBER and advise George so that Red Rose Club can be pre advised) and a donation to the Injured Soldiers Charity

Members are to note the following as advised by Altcar CEO , wear clothing to protect against the weather , wear stout footwear to protect against the weather , members attending will be split into 3 seperate groups (1 member is to act as leader for each group) for ease of access
Members have to note that Altcar have requested that a Lateral Flow Test has had to be taken on the morning of the event and that a face covering be worn everywhere except when dining

Arrive Cathedral at 2.30 for tour between 2.30 – 4.00pm
Leave Cathedral 4.15 to arrive at Maghull Square at 5.00pm
