Oh and the pork pies, best we have ever tasted!

Our next meet up will be on 26th May at 1pm in the North Western Lime Street. We visited this Wetherspoon pub last year and it usually has a good selection of cask ales. After a pint or two and food we will then visit the Sanctuary Bar a new micro pub on Lime Street and then probably walk up towards the Dispensary and Yardman Street area.
June Day Out – please note this will take place on Saturday 1st July visiting Connoisseur Ales in St Helens. Every first Saturday of the month they have an Open Day with a free brewery tour. We will also visit a few other local real ale pubs. We will be catching the 1128 train from Lime Street which will get us there about 12 noon.
The group enjoying a pint in the Beer Station micro pub in Freshfield, our last stop before catching the train home.
Thanks to all those who turned up in Ormskirk. Despite the Hop Inn being shut we managed to enjoy a few pints in the Court Leet and Cricketers. On our next meet up we will be going to Formby on 28th April meeting at Maghull Station in time to catch the 12 noon train. We will arrive at Formby about 1250 where we will first visit the Railway then the Lifeboat. After here we head back to the station and catch the train to Freshfield and pop into the Beer Engine micro pub and the Freshfield. If you are joining us later please contact me on 07801 656570 to find out where we are.
Cheers! Sue
Hello everyone, thanks to all those who turned up at Frank Hornby on 24th February for our first anniversary meet up. It was a great afternoon even though most of the real ale was not available for the first couple of hours! A big thank you to John for organising the quiz which was won by Brenda (see picture with Sue modelling Brenda’s silly prize of beer glasses!).
Our next meet up will be a week earlier on 24th March at 1pm in Wetherspoons Court Leet in Ormskirk. Those who wish can have lunch here and we will then move on to the Hop Inn and then the Cricketers. I hope to see as many of you there.
Many thanks to Ian for leading our first day out of 2017 and for his write up of the day. As Ian mentioned February will mean a year since the group first started and I don’t know where the days have gone, time flies when you’re having fun! To celebrate we will be meeting in the Frank Hornby on Friday 24th February at 1pm. John O’Neill is kindly organising a quiz and I hope as many of you can join us.
Cheers to you all and I hope 2017 has us visiting new hostelries, enjoying good company and excellent beers!
Firstly a very happy New Year to you all! After our last meet up on 9th December when nine of us enjoyed food and drink in the Frank Hornby, we are now back to the usual last Friday meets. On 27th January we will be heading back to Liverpool City Centre where Ian Gent will be leading us on a wander around some fine hostelries around the Dale Street area. We meet at 1pm in the Lion Tavern which can be found by taking a right out of Moorfields Station and pub is further up on the left. Look forward to seeing you there.
Our next meet up will be on Friday 9th December in the Frank Hornby at 1pm. We will be picking food from the main menu so no need to pre-book your meal. It would be helpful though if you could let me know if you are coming along by ringing 07801 656570 or text me.
There will be no meet up in November.
Friday 28th October – Liverpool Pub Crawl
We will be meeting in the Lime Kiln at 1230 (plenty of time for lunch for those who are hungry). Our next stop will be the newly refurbished Grapes on Roscoe Street then on to the Fly in the Loaf, Hard Times and Misery, McKenzies and the Dispensary. Here’s to a another good day out. Cheers!
Recent visit to West Kirby
The day went well helped by the lovely weather. Our first port of call was the Dee Hotel a Wetherspoons which had a good selection of ales, then up the road to the White Lion where most of us tried a ruby ale (I think this was on the turn!) We left here and doubled back on our tracks to the West Kirby Tap which has a very good selection on offer my favourites being the Vanilla Stout and award winning Abyss by Neptune Brewery in Maghull.
I suggest on any future outings to further afield that we meet at 11am as valuable drinking time is wasted travelling!
Friday 26th August – Formby Day Out
Meet at Maghull Station to catch the 12 noon train. We will be alighting at Formby and pubs we intend to visit will be the Railway, Cross House, The Lifeboat (new Wetherspoons), and the Freshfield.
Friday 23rd September – Visit to West Kirby
Meet at Maghull Station to catch the 12 noon train. This is a pub walk I have been intending to do for years. There is a good selection of pubs including a Wetherspoons (lunch?) and a comfortable walking distance between each of them.
Please contact Sue on 07801 656570 if you are joining the walks later on and I can let you know where we are.
