32 members of the Sunday Walkers group travelled by rail to St. Michaels station for a walk to Liverpool’s Pier Head. Leaving the station we walked through Priory Woods and the old Garden Festival site and on to the waterfront. In warm sunshine and a light breeze we made the 3 miles along the promenade to the Pier Head around midday where we got a good view of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth.
It was great to be out in great weather in good company.
The Friends of Sefton Park are providing a guided walk around the park for 35 of us next week followed by a meal in Lark Lane. Fingers crossed for a good day.
The Sunday Walkers group started with 3 and now has 50 members. Such a large group is just manageable but additional membership is now closed..
We have had to cancel the October 13th meeting due to a funeral at the club.
The Tech and Science plan will be shoved back accordingly.
Wed. 27th Oct – ‘it ain’t half hot mum‘ with Will Harley
What a difference a week makes. Last Sunday we were sleeveless. This week it was full weather proofs. However, the sun did try and 22 walkers covered 4 miles around the Giddygate Lane circuit from the station. Impressive considering the rainy start.
We have had an offer of a free talk ! Any one interested please ?
I would be happy to book them for the Tech and Science group but could add others
On Sunday Sep 26th 26 folk jumped trains to meet at Moreton station. We covered the 4 miles to New Brighton along the ‘Wirral Way’ promenade and beach, where it was nice to see so many people out and about in glorious sunshine. In New Brighton we split up for lunch before returning to Maghull. Thanks to all for a great day out
