November Books

One of the books we are reading at present is The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry. We will be meeting to review this novel on Thursday 4th November, 7.30 at 17 Melling Lane, Maghull. You can see a short video of the author talking about his book here.

The other book, which Anne Carr’s group is currently reading, is the Booker prize winning novel Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and the group will meet to discuss it on Friday 12th November at 10:30, 23 Buckingham Road. You can see a short video of Hilary Mantel talking about Wolf Hall here.

Walking Group

Friday 21st May    South Liverpool parks.    This is a repeat of last year’s popular circular walk from Liverpool South Parkway station round Woolton woods, Calderstones Park, Allerton Towers and Clarkes Gardens. Meet at Maghull station for 10.00 train to Liverpool South Parkway (via Liverpool Central). Bring a sandwich lunch.

Friday 4th June      Newburgh / Ashurst  –  5 miles       Meet at Maghull station for 10.16 train to Ormskirk, connecting with 203 bus to Newburgh at 10.45. Bring a sandwich lunch. Names required as numbers limited by the bus capacity.
