We have organised a visit to the “The Florrie
on Thursday 10th January from 1.30pm
There will be a tour and an outline of its background and development .

If members require to travel by public transport , please note the following

By bus , take the 82c from Elliott Street (by the side of St Johns market)  going to Garston and get off at Moses Street.

By train , take the train from Liverpool Central to Brunswick Station and it is a 10 minute walk up to Mill Street and the “Florrie”

By car Parking and entrance  at the rear , not on Mill Street

Cost is £5.00 per member including tea/coffee.

AFF and Wine Tasting Christmas meal

A Christmas meal is to be held in The Academy Restaurant , top of Duke Street , Liverpool on 20th December 2018 , arrive at 11.45am for 12 noon (make your own way there).

Cost is £26.00 per person.

Consideration will be given to those members who have attended the most visits during 2018.

Wine Tasting at Scatchards

A further wine tasting at Scratchards will take place on August 28th
The usual format, 6 wines, this time from South Africa, with chorizo, cheese, olives etc.

Cost for tasting £7 , return taxi available from Maghull Square (approx. 6.30pm) for £8 per person. Pay on booking only.

Architecture for fun – Wroxeter

11th October 2018

A coach visit to Wroxeter which is near Shrewsbury , Wroxeter is a roman town and we have entry and audio devices included in the cost

From there we are proposing to visit a local vineyard where along with wine tastings we will be provided with a one course lunch and tea/coffee , this will depend on 36 (39 booked now – bigger coach) members booking the trip. Trip fully booked.

Cost for English Heritage members £32.00 and non English Heritage members £39.00

Meet at Maghull Square at 8.15am for 8.30am departure

Sizergh Castle and Leighton Hall (Near Kendal)

Thursday 9th August 2018

Coach visit to the above with (a) Sizergh Castle which is a National Trust property including entry and a short talk  and (b) Leighton Hall including entry and a guided tour and a Birds of Prey display. Lunch will be available at Sizergh Castle at extra cost.

A visit is planned to The Synagogue on Princes Road (11.00am , then Peter Kavanaghs Pub (12.30/12.45pm – Take your own sandwich/snack) and then the Greek Orthodox Church(1.45/2.00pm)

Wine Tasting 21st June 2018

A visit to Winetime at Scatchards has been arranged , Wine tasting will be Chilean wine. Cost £7 per member for tasting and , if required a return taxi transfer from Maghull Square at £7 per member if sufficient numbers book this service.

6 wines will be tasted , chorizo , cheese , olives and biscuits will be provided.

Wroxeter (EH) and Attingham Hall (NT) Now cancelled until future date

Visit to Wroxeter , a village in Shropshire which has impressive excavated remains of the Roman city of Viroconium Cornoviorum which was the fourth largest cavitas capital in Roman Britain.

We will then go on to Attingham Hall , an English country house and estate in Shropshire. It is a National Trust property , grade 1 listed building in the village of Atcham..

Cost to be available when agreed with coach company , English Heritage and National Trust.
