Walking Netball – New Course

walking-netballWalking Netball is a slowed down version of the game of netball designed for anyone looking to exercise in a relaxed, supportive and friendly environment.  It is suitable for all ages and abilities and every session contains a gentle warm-up. Men are welcome to join in.

Netball England are providing taster sessions for 4 weeks starting 5th May, at 10.30 to 11.30 at West Lancs College in Skelmersdale Campus WN8 6DX.  These sessions are FREE  and provide a great opportunity to try a new skill or improve the skill you already have.  It helps build your confidence to know you can still do things you did when you were younger.  Members who took part in the last sessions,  shared they felt 14 again!!!!

I have been in contact with other U3A’s and members from Parbold, Mawdsley and Ormskirk and Aughton will be joining us.  To join us please come to Group Support desk on a Tuesday or ring Brenda McKenzie on 0151 531 0207 or send a text with your details to 07900525222.

If transport is a problem I am sure we can sort out car share.

WALKING NETBALL

walking-netballFive of our members attended taster sessions run by Netball England at West Lancs College in Skelmerdale.   It is hoped that they will run more taster sessions maybe on a Friday morning.  Members of Parbold U3A have joined forces with us and we are hoping that between the two U3A’s we will be able to attract enough members to make a walking netball group viable. The sessions have run for 1 hour and consist of 30 minute warm up, and 30 minute for games.  It has proved to be great fun and a really good way of keeping fit. If you are interested please send a text to Brenda McKenzie on 07900525222 or come to the Group Support desk at Tuesday coffee morning on 28th March. Men are welcome to join the group.

Pottery Group

Unfortunately, after making enquires on starting this group it has been decided it is not a feasible proposition at present.  The group would be quite small and to pay for equipment and hire of premises would be a considerable burden on the group.  No one has come forward who would be willing to give the level of input which the group would expect.  However, if someone with more experience was to come forward we could look at starting this group in the future.
