Not foiled by the Winter weather, 11 members of the Rambling Group had a local walk today despite the freezing ice and snow. The planned route was altered at the last minute due to the vagaries of Merseyrail, so we jumped in cars up to Aughton and undertook a somewhat shortened walk following part of the Yellowhammer route, up to the top of Clieves Hill and back across country to the start point.
In spite of the roads and paths looking very slippery we had a great walk using tracks, fields and quiet roads which were actually good underfoot. Apart from a couple of people daring to tread on some icy patches which gave way to a rather soggy base, there were no slips, trips or falls and we all returned in one piece. Everyone agreed it was a beautiful day to be out walking, clean crispy air and lovely blue skies with great views from our snack stop on Clieves Hill. However we were very glad we weren’t among the hardy souls picking crops in the frozen fields! On reaching walk end we invaded the quiet serene space of Cafe Vista where we enjoyed a lovely lunch and swelled the coffers in the tills, much to the delight of the volunteer ladies. Thanks to everyone who braved the weather today and we can keep our record of never cancelling the rambles!
Hi that’s a lovely photo of the 3 horses with the Church in the background. Enter it into BBC Countryfile calendar competition later this year
Terrific photos of the church and horses in the mist. Hope you were all very well wrapped up lol.
Of course we were., looked about 3 sizes bigger than we are! By the end of the walk we were too hot!
