I have 29 members booked after yesterdays coffee morning.  The luxury coach I have booked holds 39 passengers.

Cornwall Wine Tour Late Sept/Early Oct 2025

I had 27 members indicating their interest at Tuesdays coffee morning. Accordingly, i have a 39 seater luxury coach to be with us for the whole of the tour.  I will restrict numbers to 35 members

NEW DAY TRIP

We will be travelling to Temple Newsam near Leeds. This lovely Tudor  house dates back over 500 years and we will be visiting with access to the House, Gardens and the Conservation Farm which is one of largest rare breed farms in Europe.  The house is bursting with treasures, has witnessed many colourful characters and is the birthplace of Lord Darnley, whose Mother was a niece of Henry V111 and he was married to Mary Queen of Scots. We will have tea/coffee on arrival and a guided tour.  Lovely gardens to browse. There are special activities on at the Farm during our visit and plenty of new lambs. There are 2 Gift Shops and a shop selling local produce, plants, ice cream etc. We will enjoy a light lunch of sandwiches, cream scone with jam.

Wine Tasting Tour Cornwall

Discussions are taking place with regard to the possibility of arranging the above in late September , early October. There are a number of vineyards in Cornwall such as Camel Valley , Looe Valley Vineyard , Tamar Valley Vineyard ,etc

There are numerous tourist attractions in this County , such as the Eden Project , National Trust properties , etc . We will investigate what attractions will be included

It will probably be a 5 days / 4 night trip

Garden Visits – Calf’s Head Country Hotel & Shackletons Garden Centre – 26th March 2025

To start the Garden Visits first outing for 2025, we have arranged a 2 course Carvery lunch at the Calf’s Head Country Hotel Worsley, Clitherow.  Wednesday, 26th March 2025.

We will first visit Shackleton Garden Centre. It’s a well stocked garden centre and hopefully give us some spring inspiration.  They have a warm and welcoming cafe which we can have a morning tea/coffee if you wish.

Later, we will go to the Calf’s Head Country Hotel for our carvery lunch with a choice of two or three roast meats and a vegetarian choice, also a selection of delightful desserts. Then to finish a tea/coffee included in the meal.  Cost of trip  £33.

Depart Maghull Square.   9.15am.        Return Maghull Square  5.30pm approx  

AFF – Trip to Lichfield – 27th February 2025

Arrangements are in hand to visit Lichfield , a cathedral city in Staffordshire with the only medieval three -spired cathedral in the country

We will have a guided tour of the cathedral in the afternoon , prior to this we will visit the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum and  have a guided tour , (Samuel was the author of the first English Dictionary) and then have a lunch stop

Cost approximately £40 (based on 30 members) including all entrance fees , guided tour fees and probably a soup and sandwich lunch

Wine Tasting – 30th January 2025

The next tasting is on the above date at Winetime at Scatchards

The tasting is £12 per member and a return taxi transfer from and back to Maghull Square is £10 per member.

There are only a few places available particularly for the taxi transfer
