A full complement promptly hit the road to Cumbria on Wednesday morning. What promised to be a cool and overcast day turned out to be glorious with warm sunshine until our return. We arrived in Kendal for 10 am and had a 2 hour stay. More than enough time for coffee, a spin around the outdoor market and lunch.
Then back on the road for Lowther castle, near Penrith, where we were greeted by a tour guide who gave us a brief history and our ‘VIP’ badges. The ‘castle’ and gardens were more than enough for a full day out so we had to be selective. The ‘main event’ was the daffodil display which featured 10,000 ceramic flowers planted in woodland.
Complementary maps aided our navigation but access to the grounds was tough in places and not well signed but we managed a short tour and then made back for afternoon tea. The cakes and ice creams finished off our visit.
And so back home with an uneventful journey to arrive just after 6pm.
Thanks to Marje and the girls for another lovely day out.
