London Trip
We are organising a 3 days (2 nights) trip to London.
Tue 12th – Thur 14th July staying at the St Giles Hotel, Tottenham Court Road.
Accommodation in single and double/twin en suite rooms.
There are 10 single rooms with no supplement on a first come first served basis.
Two excursions: Globe Theatre and Old Bailey Tours
The cost, dependent on getting 35 passengers will be £329.00. If there are less the price might go up a little and if there are more the price might go down a little. Bookings will be taken at the Theatre Desk at the Tuesday coffee morning. To secure a place a deposit of £75.00 per person is required.
Walking Netball provides a fun, safe environment and encourages adults to have a more gradual introduction to physical activity by regaining necessary motor skills, helping balance, coordination and better footwork for any age or fitness. We are hoping to start a group after Easter at Maricourt High School on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm for 1 hour. 9 hardy ( or maybe foolhardy) souls set out yesterday for an 8 mile ramble around the Stocks reservoir in the Gisburn Forest just over the Yorkshire Border. There should have been 11 of us but 2 got lost on the way and eventually did their own 5 mile walk in the area! Setting off in reasonably dry weather we followed well marked paths through the forest owned by United Utilities which is the forest of Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty. Sadly the low cloud and general mizzle stopped any far reaching views but we all agreed on a clear bright sunny day the area would be beautiful. Continue reading

Notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting of Members
Notice is hereby given that an extraordinary general meeting of the members of Maghull & Lydiate University of the Third Age (The Charity) is to be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday 29th March 2022 at Maghull Baptist Church, Hall Lane, Maghull, Liverpool L31 3DY for the purpose of considering and voting upon the following resolution:
“ It is hereby resolved that in light of the information and the circumstances that are set out in the letter issued by the Committee of The Charity and dated 1st March 2022 , the activities undertaken by both Individual Members and Groups of Members be suspended as from the date of this meeting until such time as the officer posts that are currently vacant are filled, with the effect that the members of The Charity will then be in a position to elect a properly constituted Committee, such as will meet the requirements set out in The Charity’s constitution document.”
