Today 7 riders from M&L U3A and O & A U3A set off in drizzle rain to join the Trans-Pennine Trail. Due to the weather the trail was mostly devoid of other trail users so a swift pace was kept up to Halewood. The weather brightened up as we reached Hale and on into Widnes for a welcome brew at the Catalyst Museum. Cycling through Spike Island we picked up the T.P. Trail once more which took us to Fiddlers Ferry on the Warrington outskirts. Mike Miller led this section through the lovely trails along Sankey Valley emerging at Carr Mill Dam. An excellent ride of 57 miles, the majority of which was off road. Next weeks ride will be the coastal route to Banks and on towards Tarleton. Meet at 1000hrs at The Derby Arms.
