Trentham Garden Estate

A visit has been arranged for Wednesday 22nd April 2020 to Trentham Gardens, and shopping village and one of the largest Garden Centres in the country,  Our day ticket will allow us to wander in and out of the gardens and village.  The Italian garden planting is designed within the historic framework of Sir Thomas Barrys’ original Italianate Garden of the 19th Century.  It has one of the largest contemporary perennial plantings in Europe.  The upper flower garden has been restored and beautifully laid out.  You can take a stroll around the mile long lake or maybe take a boat ride.

The shopping village is a destination to please everyone !!  You can browse around amazing timber lodges with a friendly village atmosphere. There are restaurants, cafes and a massively impressive Garden Centre – this should be a wonderful day out.

Cost of trip is £21

Peloton Progress

I’m not sure if there is a collective noun for a gathering of cyclists but there was one yesterday at Old Racecourse Road when three U3A Cycling Groups met to go on their respective rides.

The Day Riders made our way through Lunt, Thornton and Crosby to pick up the Coastal Path through to Hightown, Formby and Freshfield where we took the by-pass route into Ainsdale where it was time for a brew and where we met up with Phil’s Breakaway Group.

We returned against a stiff headwind across The Moss to Halsall.

Next week’s ride will be to Widnes via the T.P. Trail, meeting at Aintree Station.
