Once a year the Monday evening Nordic walkers undertake a longer walk utilising the bus service to get to a distant start point and walk back to Lydiate. Having been cancelled on several occasions due to the wet weather, the walk was planned for tonight. Unfortunately Brenda was not with us, having been lucky enough to have tickets for the opening day of Wimbledon, but we were ably led by Ann and Sue, who, along with Dave, Chris and Stuart, completed their walk leader training on Friday. Starting from Halsall church we walked to the Saracens Head where we reached the canal towpath. This led us back to Lydiate 5 miles later, but not before we had a quick refreshment at the Scarisbrick arms. As can be seen from the photos we had lovely weather and completed the walk in around 2 hours.
I am interested in the nordic walking. I live in Maghull Merseyside. If its still running can you please get in touch with more imformashion. Thanks
Hello, I am interested in Nordic Walking but unsure how to sign up for the training and the walking groups. Is it possible for someone to advise please.
Thank you
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn,
the training is organised through active Sefton. You can book by emailing walking@sefton.gov.uk or by ringing 0151 934 2824. Once you have completed the training you can go on any of the Nordic walking sessions. If you come to the group support desk on Tuesdays you can pick up one of the walking and cycling newsletters which has all the info about all the walks in Sefton.
