Nordic summer soiree

The Nordic walkers, both the morning and evening groups, met tonight for a  summer gathering. After the torrential rain at the weekend, we were blessed with a balmy summer evening so were able to congregate in Brenda’s lovely garden. Following a  short walk everyone settled down to an evening of lovely food, plenty of drinks and free flowing, often hilarious conversation. Safe to say it was a lovely evening enjoyed by all. Thanks to Brenda and John for hosting

New Day Trip

Where better to be than the Lake District in Autumn?  We will be visiting Bowness which, until 1847 when the railways started, was a fishing village.  The Victorians quickly made it in to what it is to-day – a thriving tourist destination.  There are walks by the Lake where you can watch the world go by or book a boat trip, museums, most famously, the home of Beatrix Potter, galleries, shops, cafes and pubs. Some of the lovely hotels were originally the private homes of successful Manchester businessmen.  Time to browse, have a coffee, lunch and take in the lovely scenery. Then we will be off to visit the Blackwell Arts and Crafts House which is set in lovely gardens with stunning views of Lake Windermere.  It was originally the holiday home of Sir Edward Holt, a successful Manchester brewer.  It is now a place to explore, soak up the atmosphere and have an introductory talk to this special property.  We will finish with a cream tea.

When ?  Wed. 16th October 2019.  Dep.9.15am   Ret. 6pm  Price: £23 inc. intro. talk and cream tea. Seats will be on sale at our table on Tuesday 30TH July 2019.

nb. no Day Trips table on Tuesday 23.7.19
