June Real Ale Day Out

This month on the 28th June we will be going to Chester.  To make the most of the day we will be taking the 11:01 train from Maghull Station (or 10:57 from Maghull North).  We are due to arrive in Chester at 12:11 and we will then walk towards the centre and have lunch and beers in The Square Bottle (Wetherspoon).  From here there are many great pubs including Ye Olde Boot Inn, Brewery Tap, Cross Keys and Pied Bull to name just a few! On the walk back to the train station we can visit The Cellar and The Deva Tap both new micro pubs. Cross fingers for good weather but either way it will be a top day out!

Happy Puzzlers

MATHS 4 FUN   had a record turn out for our June meeting when sixteen of us laughed and chortled our way through logic puzzles, codewords, sudoku, kakuro and pig problems. Summer hols and more puzzles now beckon.

We will have a break in July and August and meet again on Wednesday 4th September.

By popular request, the answer to the problem on the right is 38

This went viral on facebook last year and is still going round.

Note: the clocks change, the bananas change and the shapes also change. Don’t forget BODMAS.

Ramblers in Malham

Thursday June 6th saw us in Malham.  Road closures caused serious navigation issues and time constraints.  The weather held though,  with warm sun and light breezes. We managed to get to the pub just before a heavy shower but the sun soon returned for the drive home.  Thanks to Dave for organising a great day out.

YORKSHIRE SPRING BREAK

It’s the largest County in England and often called “God’s Own Country.”  Yes you are right we were in Yorkshire – 40 of us.  Staying at the very comfortable Rendezvous Hotel, beautifully sited on the banks of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, with lovely countryside views, just outside Skipton.  We did our share of sightseeing, through the Yorkshire Dales and Villages, out to the North York Moors and across to the Yorkshire Pennines.  One evening our evening meal was served on the Hotel’s boat – The Dalesman.  We enjoyed a 3 hour cruise while our delicious meal was served followed by tea.coffee/chocolates.  A nice break with good hotel, good food and good company. The weather was kind as well. What more could you ask??
