although i am a birkdale resident, i am interested in the history of maghull and i should be grateful if you would kindly identify for me the origin and purpose of the now closed ominous looking building on the left hand side of liverpool road (?) travelling (north ?) towards the A59 and about 200 yards or so before the site of the old windmill by the nice garden centre (the windmill ?) before hitting the A59 at the roundabout at the bottom of the road
