We started our April meeting discussing offers to the group from Hartleys Garden Centre where the owner has agreed to take us on a guided tour. In addition our group are to have an exclusive guided visit to a beautiful garden in Birkdale which opens in Summer under the National Garden Scheme. This garden is described as ‘a walled garden surrounding a Victorian house with formal and informal planting mainly cottage garden style, accessed by bark and gravel paths.’ It is gorgeous.
On our next meet up on 25th May we will be visiting the many micro pubs and bars in Southport. We will be catching the 300 bus from around 1130. The bus is due to arrive at Woodend shops (just before the Meadows pub) at 1131 so you should be able to work out what time you should get to your nearest bus stop. We last visited Southport in November last year but the weather turned nasty cutting short the crawl. Let’s cross fingers for a kinder day weatherwise this time!
Eight of us met up in the Ship and Mitre where we had a couple of pints and lunch. We then had one in The Vernon Arms, the Lion Tavern and finished in The Railway.
