The Foodie Group had the last full meeting of 2017 today as our next monthly meeting will be our Christmas lunch which we are celebrating at L20, the hotel school of Hugh Baird College. I know we will be well fed and “watered”  there. At the meeting today we celebrated French food with Sue, Cheryl, and Margaret A, providing tasters for us to share. These included a delicious lentil and Toulouse sausage cassolet, pate, cheeses, escargots, mussels, crispy French stick, followed by tarte tatin and crème fraiche. Delicious food with plenty of chat. I doubt anyone needed lunch  after the tasters. Continue reading

photoWe are half through the six week free sessions Active Sefton are providing for us. Everyone agrees Colette our instructor is a star.   Below is just some of the feedback received from group members.

“I really enjoyed this mornings session. It’s just what I need. Colette was very good. You could go at your own pace and I loved the music”.

“Loved, loved, loved the music.  Felt motivated after session .  I had more energy.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed this mornings class. Collette was really good. Thanks for arranging”

French language – Interested?

Would you like to brush up your French?  Do you like to go to France for holidays and would you like to communicate with French people more effectively?

On  Monday and Wednesday afternoons in a relaxed atmosphere we use a  mixture of realistic dialogues and manipulation of up-to-date passages.   That way group members can re-organise the French they’ve already learned so as to express new ideas they hadn’t thought of before.  The Monday group also have access to narratives from the world of French speakers seen on the TV computer screen.

You’ll soon be able to explain to friends in the group what activities you’ve enjoyed recently and do that in authentic French.   That’s always a source of fun.

So, if all that appeals, come and see me in the Tuesday coffee morning or phone me on  526-5071.   “A bientot!”
