Foodie Group: It’s all Greek to me!

The foodie group met today for our usual monthly meeting and this month had the opportunity to sample Greek cuisine courtesy of Gwen, Mavis and Dot.

We tasted Kleftico, a traditional slow cooked lamb dish, feta salad, olives, baked aubergine and tomato, spiced potato wedges, tzatikii, wild rice salad, followed by desserts of fresh fruit crepes with chocolate spread, baklava, and a delicious chocolate coated almond and nougat slice, nicely washed down with a glass of ouzo.  Judging by all the empty plates the Greek food was enjoyed by all.

The foodie group meet on the third Thursday of every month and is open to new members.

Sunday Strollers

Six people enjoyed the sunshine on our walk last Sunday.   We passed RAF Woodvale at the Freshfield Heath Nature Reserve before making our way to the beach.  As the Southport Air Show was on, we were treated to an air display as we walked along. We had an enjoyable lunch at the Pinewoods pub before making our way back to the station.  The walk was 6 miles.  However, some people had walked to Maghull station making it over 7 miles.  Our next walk will be in West Kirby on the third Sunday 15th October.  This walk will be a  6 miles flat walk. However we will have a break after 3 miles. We will meet at Maghull station 10.50 everyone welcome.
