Ruth, Geraldine and Brian started our Spanish experience with a quiz which certainly worked up an appetite for what was to follow! Ruth explained that garlic and olive oil (extra virgin, is best) feature prominently in Spanish food. Sea food, fresh fruit and vegetables are plentiful with eggs and choritzo very popular staples. A variety of cheeses are made from goat, sheep and cow’s milk and are used in tapas. Almond and orange desserts are popular, as these ingredients are readily available.
We started our taster with bread rubbed with salt and ripe tomatoes, choritzo, followed by patatas bravas, tortilla, and Spanish orange cake. Sangria and orange juice accompanied our food along with some dancing!
Many thanks for a colourful, mind stretching, delicious experience.
