REAL ALE GROUP – FIRST MEETING 2017 – LIVERPOOL
This month marked the first meeting of the new year. We met at the ‘Lion Tavern’ Moorefields, Liverpool, a short distance from Moorefields Railway Station. There were 11 members present, which was a good turnout for the first meeting. We were very lucky as the Lion is due to close next week for refurbishments. Unfortunately the heating wasn’t on but we didn’t mind. We sat in the lounge under the beautiful stained glass domed roof. Our favourite pints were Youngs Bitter and Broadside. We then went to’ The Railway’ in Tithebarn Street where we had a lovely meal. It was very busy. The best pints being Doombar and Dizzy Blonde. Our next pub was ‘Ye Hole In Ye Wall’ Hackins Hey, then ‘Thomas Rigby’s’ and ‘The Vernon Arms’ Dale Street. All of which were a short walk from each other. The pubs were generally full of people who had finished work for the weekend and were enjoying themselves. We really enjoyed ‘the weekend starts here feeling’. Our next meeting will be at the Frank Hornby, Maghull and will mark the anniversary of our very first meeting a year ago.
