A DAY IN THE LAKES – what better time to visit the Lakes where, hopefully, we should be able to see a “host of Golden Daffodils”. We will start our day in the lovely ancient village of Hawkshead, famous for its’ associations with William Wordsworth, who went to School here.
You can visit the Grammar School where he was educated. The Beatrix Potter Gallery is also here with displays of her original drawings, models, etc. now owned by the National Trust. There are lots of individual shops and some lovely cosy tea rooms for coffee/cakes/lunch. Onto Glenridding, via the stunning Kirkstone Pass, where we will board a steamer on Lake Ullswater, the largest and some say the most spectacular in the Lake District, it is often compared to Lake Lucerne in Switzerland for its’ rugged beauty.. Sailing through wonderful scenery on a comfortable boat (which is licensed and serves teas/coffees etc.) across Lake Ullswater to Pooley Bridge which is another pretty Lakes village. Time for a look round and maybe a last minute drink before heading for home.

What a glorious day Marj. The gods certainly smile down on you when they dish out the weather! – And what a lovely man our driver Phil is. So obliging and helpful.
Thanks again for another really enjoyable day..
