Join us on September 10th for a London Mini-break. Travelling down by executive coach we make our way to the Capital arriving in time to spend a free afternoon or join a visit to the Houses of Parliament and the Household Cavalry Museum.
Enjoy a night at the Tara Copthorne Hotel in Kensington on a b&b basis before a visit to Buckingham Palace and the Queen’s Gallery on the 11th.
Cost of the break is £152.00 with the free afternoon or £172.00 if the Houses of Parliament and the Household Cavalry tours are included. Single supplement of £45.00 will apply.

14 members of the Sunday walking group completed a 5 mile walk from Hightown to Freshfield today (26thJune). Everyone agreed it had been a great leisurely walk. The leader John McKenzie tries to find walks that are:
Today’s walk ticked all these boxes. One other member joined us for lunch after completing a mile walk to get to pub and a mile back to the station, a total of 2 miles. Well done Roberta!!!
The groups next walk will be on 24th July, meeting at Maghull Station at 10.50. The route to be advised at a later date. John would love to hear from anyone who knows of walks that fit the above criteria.
Their will be no Table Games group meeting next Monday 27th June.

Ever wondered what happens to the money you pop into the tin when you buy a poppy?? Come along to the speaker meeting on 5th July, 11am in the Sanctuary and you’ll find out. Christine Bradford, Area manager for the Royal British Legion, will be telling us how the money is spent. She will also outline the work of the Royal British Legion from its inception to the changing issues the society deal with today. Admission , as usual, is £1.00 with all monies being donated to the RBL. Meeting will be over by 12md.
It’s that time of the year again – time to book your Christmas Lunch. We will be visiting the highly acclaimed Newbank Garden Centre at Bury, which will have been transformed into a magical place with all it’s lovely decorative ideas, inspiration for gifts and all you need for Christmas. Time for a coffee in the Irwell Bistro, set in a converted farmhouse and to browse. Then we are off to the lovely, comfortable Best Western Higher Trapp Country House Hotel in Burnley. Set in lovely gardens and with spectacular views across the Lancashire countryside. Here we will have a delicious 3 course meal followed by coffee/mince pies. This is a delightful venue and their light and airy L37 Restaurant has lovely views over the golf links It also has a delicious choice of menu.
