Guide Dogs for the Blind

The latest of our monthly speakers were Julie and David Oliver, who are members of Preston U3A, accompanied by Julie’s guide dog Queenie. David opened the informative talk by discussing how to puppies are moved to a volunteer puppy walker at 6 weeks old in order to work with the dog and familiarise them with normal sights and sounds in the home and out and about, including people, traffic. Foodie Group take to the waterways

13 members of the Foodie Group took a 2 hour trip on the local barge ” Pride Of Sefton ” last week. We were blessed with glorious weather which added to the ambience of the day. Setting off from the mooring at Halsall , the barge cruised along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, as far as Scarisbrick Marina , then returned at a leisurely pace to the departure point. Continue reading

Julie and David Oliver members of Preston U3A. Julie’s guide dog will accompany them.

Admission  £1 per person, which will be donated to the Guide-dogs for the Blind association.
