Members of the Pedal Pushers took part in a photo shoot for the CTC (the Cyclists’ Touring Club). The CTC is a charitable membership organisation supporting cyclists and promoting bicycle use. It is the largest such organisation in the UK, and since January 2007, CTC’s president has been the newsreader Jon Snow.
The CTC sent along their official photographer to take pictures of the group and to record their story so far. We were made to feel like movie stars!!!! We had our photo taken, round the track at Litherland, on the road, on the canal, going under bridges, riding in a line, in pairs, and as a group. Two members of the group were interviewed, to record the achievements and aims of the group to date. It was a pity some of the group were on holiday and unable to make it. Our initial aim was to be able to do a 10 mile bike ride to celebrate our U3A’s ten year birthday, but our coach, Ross thinks we now need to aim higher as we have already achieved our initial goal. The CTC has now started to work with another U3A in another part of the country, so this may be the start of something big, and Maghull and Lydiate U3A have lead the way.
