REMINDER – BALANCE OF PAYMENT FOR TRIPS

As we frequently have to pay up front prior to any visit for coach hire, entrance fees, teas/coffees, guided tours/meals etc., we would like to remind everyone that balance of payment for your trip is due 4 weeks before the date of the trip  This enables us to meet our obligations.  It also stops us having to ring members with a reminding message which is time consuming and costly. Your co-operation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks – Marj Atlay, Day Trips Leader

Day Riders

25- 30 mile rides

As the first Cycling Group to be formed we  began nearly ten years ago when our U3A started in Maghull. We simply called ourselves  the Cycling Group. Since then two further groups have been formed; an intermediate group called  Easy Riders and very recently another for for raw beginners, the Pedal Pushers. We are now called the Day Riders. Follow the links to find out more about the newer groups..

As the longest established group we are seasoned riders who venture out most Mondays regardless of weather. Our rides are quite demanding, normally extending to 25-30 miles. Continue reading

Pedal Pushers

Formerly known as ‘Easy Riders 2’,  this newly renamed group headed by Bill Ashton and led by Ross Adams of Active Sefton,  offers a cycling opportunity for raw beginners.

The group continue to meet weekly at Litherland Sports centre, under the watchful eye of Ross Adams, Active Sefton and CTC. The majority of group members have now experienced cycling outside the confines of the sports track and ventured onto neighbouring cycle paths.

Ross was unable to provide support for us this week, but with his “blessing” we took to our own devices and ventured further.

Under the careful tuition of Bill Ashton, our new U3A cycle leader, we rode as far as Rimrose Valley Country Park and completed 5.5 miles on roads and paths without mishap! Ross was very impressed with our continued progress and we will be venturing further on our next outing.

The 10 mile ride to celebrate U3A 10th anniversary is no longer a distant dream!

Real Ale Appreciation

New Group planned.

Sue Daniels one of our new members is willing to start a Real Ale Appreciation Group. The group will meet for the first time on 19th February at 4pm at The Frank Hornby, Maghull to discuss what people want to get from the group.  Sue has some ideas, one being going round old pubs in Liverpool, another visiting breweries.  David Scott from Architecture for Fun is willing to help Sue with information about some of the old pubs in Liverpool.  If you are interested please contact Sue on 0151 526 1198 or Brenda McKenzie  on 0151 531 0207
