On January 21st, to finish their Foodie tour of the world, thirteen members of the Foodie Group arrived at the Tai Pan, Liverpool. As it was a freezing day many of us started with Chinese tea, a welcome first for some…
After much discussion most of us chose the Executive Lunchtime Menu whilst those who were not so sure about Chinese food chose a specific dish each. The ‘executive’ diners started with a lovely sweetcorn soup with crackers followed by a combo of ribs, Chinese seaweed and spring rolls.
Following this they shared five different main meals,
Fried sliced beef in black pepper sauce
Fried sliced beef with spring onion
Sweet and sour pork
Fried sliced chicken in Cantonese sauce
Fried sliced chicken with seasonal vegetables
served with fried rice..
Denis, our resident Chinese food expert, explained some of the ingredients of the dishes whilst great fun was had with the first time use of chopsticks or in some cases one chop stick and a fork!
We concluded our meal with a quick discussion about our Barge Trip on March 31st, deciding which dishes we would bring for a picnic lunch.
Many thanks to Denis for arranging this visit to the Tai Pan.
Thanks Denis, good time had by all
