Foodie Group

Change of meeting times in 2016

To fit in with a number of other groups, namely, Walking,  Architecture for Fun, and Discussion/Debating,  the Foodie Group have agreed to meet/go out on the third Thursday in the month from 2016.  Taking this approach means that members can attend all four groups if they want, as they will now meet on a different Thursdays in the month – a win win situation for all.

Spanish Tapas at Heathcotes in Preston

Foodie Group at Heathcotes

20 members attended a cooking demonstration at Heathcotes in Preston.  Members of the Foodie group and friends made their way to Preston on the train and enjoyed the delights of Spanish Tapas as well as sampling three different wines. This was followed by a lunch which included dishes from the demonstration.  This is the second time we have been to Heathcotes.  We will continue our round the world trip when we have lunch at the Indian Street food restaurant Mowgli in Bold Street LiverpoolWednesday 28th October.20151017_12171620151017_121816

Easy Riders

Last week a group of Easy Riders tackled our longest ride to date – all of 25 miles! We took the train to Hooton on the Chester line. The first section took us along the Wirral way past the preserved railway station at Willaston and on to Parkgate where we we stopped for a coffee break.

Suitably refreshed we joined the Wirral Way  and continued to West. Kirby.  – 15 miles covered so far. Two members had to leave here but the rest of us carried on after a leisurely break down at the coast.

We then joined the coast route through Hoylake, Moreton, Leasowe and finally New Brighton. The head wind on the last leg made it very hard work and we realised we wouldn’t get to the ferry in time so had a short break before pushing our bikes up the hill to the station.

Great day out. John Ramsden
