About our meetings

The Melling Lane group which meets normally every second Thursday evening at 19:30 is currently reading Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes, a novella which won the 2011 Man Booker Prize. Bill Howarth recommended this as a good read and we will be meeting to discuss it together on Thursday 7th February.

Anne Carr’s group meets  on the second Friday  morning monthly at 10:30 and are currently reading The Thread  by Victoria Hislop and will meet to talk about this book on Friday 8th February 10:30am

Recommendations for books to read are always welcome, as are new members, though space is becoming a problem as we meet in leaders’ homes. We may need to think about  forming a third Reading Group. If you would be interested in starting or helping to lead a new group or would simply like to join one of the exisiting groups please contact David on 526 6001 or Anne on 526 2734.

Book Donations

On Tuesdays at our Coffee Morning 10-11:30 you can purchase a wide range of books donated by members for as little as 50p each or 3 for £1. Donations of books are very much appreciated to enable us to provide this service for members but the books should be in excellent or very good condition. David K.
